FC Bayern Munich is a German professional sports club based in Munich, Bavaria. It is best known for its professional football team, which competes in the Bundesliga, the top tier of the German football league system. Bayern Munich share the record for most seasons played in the Bundesliga with Werder Bremen, and are ranked third in the all-time Bundesliga table, only behind Bayern and Borussia Dortmund.

History

FC Bayern Munich was founded on 27 February 1900 by 11 men led by Franz John. The club’s first official match was played in 1900, and they won their first championship in 1903. Bayern Munich have won the German championship 33 times, the DFB-Pokal 20 times, the DFL-Ligapokal six times, the DFL-Supercup ten times, the European Cup/UEFA Champions League six times, the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup once, the UEFA Europa League once, the UEFA Super Cup twice, and the FIFA Club World Cup twice.
